"Positively the best hotel I have stayed at. The bar meals in particular were excellent and very reasonable in price. The staff were always friendly and willing to go the extra mile, not because they were told to, but because they wanted to. The views from the bedrooms, lounge and bars were exceptional."

The Colonial-style Rock Hotel is located approximately two miles from Gibraltar Airport with views over the straits of Gibraltar. Built in 1932 by the Marquis of Bute, the hotel has views of Spain and the Rif Mountains in Morocco. This location is also one mile from Moorish Castle and Saint Michael's Cave. Gibraltar is one of the most southerly points in Europe, and North Africa is just across the strait, making an excursion to Tangier a short daytrip. Hotel amenities include the swimming pool, poolside snack bar, game room, and breakfast. The main restaurant has panoramic views across Gibraltar Bay and the Spanish mainland and serves daily changing menu. Also on site is the Barbary Bar, which opens out on to the Wisteria Terrace, with a stocked bar and a food menu. All rooms feature sea views, as well as tea/coffee facilities, bathrobes, complimentary sherry/whiskey, trouser pressers, minibars, satellite TV, radios, and air-conditioning.
